Are Stainless Steel Straws Hygienic?

The first question asked when presented with stainless steel straws is “but is it hygienic?”. And the answer is “YES IT IS HYGIENIC!!!!”

Stainless steel is a non-porous material, which means that it does not leach chemicals, flavours, bacteria and other foods. It is easy to clean and durable, which makes it a popular choice in restaurant kitchens. The knives used to cut your food, the pots used to cook your food, and the cutlery you use to eat your food are all stainless steel products. Surely this is proof that stainless steel is an invaluable and easy to clean (thus hygienic) material in the food and hospitality industries.

How to clean?

For private customers, it is easy to just use the cleaning brush that comes in a set and brush it through the straw. The straws are also dishwasher friendly and, in the dishwasher, they get disinfected and cleaned. For restaurants, we supply a ‘dishwasher caddy’ which is also made from stainless steel and allows for the straws – on bulk – to be easily stored and placed in the dishwasher. Of course, if not convinced, the option to use the cleaning brush is also there.

Put simply, Sip Conscious Stainless steel straws are eco-friendly, trendy, hygienic and easy to clean leaving no excuse to make the switch.
